Cottage Industries

Looking ahead, The Denan Project’s next undertaking is the development of cottage industries that will generate food and revenue to help sustain the hospital and to assist the surrounding villages in the process of becoming self-sufficent.

As a start, we have purchased a solar oven capable of baking 300 loaves of bread daily and are teaching villagers how to use it. Currently, the bread is used to feed the in-patients at our hospital with the excess being sold in the community.

The Denan Project is also looking into the feasibility of purchasing dairy goats. Their milk will be used for nourishment as well as for the production of cheese, which can also be sold.
